Small Changes Can Make a Big Difference
One of the biggest misconceptions in fitness is that if an exercise feels uncomfortable, the exercise itself must be the problem.
While that’s sometimes true, many times the issue isn’t the exercise—it’s how it’s being performed.
In the video above, my client was feeling hip thrusts in her lower back instead of where we wanted the movement to be working.
Rather than abandoning the exercise, we made a few simple adjustments to her positioning, breathing, and movement.
Almost immediately, the exercise felt better.
These moments happen often during personal training sessions.
Everyone moves differently. The coaching cues that work for one person may not work for someone else. My role is to find the cue that helps each individual understand the movement in a way that makes sense for them.
That’s why personal training is about much more than motivation or accountability.
It’s about learning how your body moves and making adjustments that help you train safely, confidently, and effectively.
Sometimes the smallest coaching cue creates the biggest improvement.
